With Musical Director Robert Max we perform major masterpieces as well as less well-known musical 'gems'. Dvořák's richly melodic seventh symphony is one of the great symphonic masterpieces. The highly talented young pianist Magdalene Ho joins us to perform Mendelssohn's sparkling First Piano Concerto and the concert opens with a work by Stravinsky which has some echoes of his ballet score The Rite of Spring. Beethoven, Schumann & Mahler

Beethoven's powerful Egmont overture opens a programme which includes Schumann's lyrical and poetic Cello Concerto and Mahler's radiant Fourth Symphony. Indira Grier, soloist in the concerto, is embarking on her career with an impressive record of prizes and chamber music performances.
